Academy "Dream
Teams"
and
The Challenge - Long
Island
(exclusively by
CABLEVISION)
In November 2007 our second "Dream Team" took the
LONG ISLAND CHALLENGE.
The CHALLENGE is an annual
competition among 32 randomly selected public and private high schools
across Long Island. Like "The College Bowl" of yesteryear or
"Jeopardy" of today, the CHALLENGE
pits the best and brightest minds (and fastest trigger fingers!) from
one school against those of another school until three schools are left
standing. Those schools compete with the winners from Connecticut
and New Jersey for the grand prize of $10,000 for the winning school.
Our school won the lotteries to compete two years in a row. Last
year's ASJ team won two rounds, besting an arch-rival: Ward Melville High
School! This year's team lost to Smithtown Christian School but not
without two challenges to the judges' calls. Due in no small part to
our fine Humanities Program, our teams shone in the areas of Art,
Art History, Music, Social Studies and Literature. We are proud of
our teams and look forward to future opportunities to have other ASJ
"Dream Teams" test their mettle and show the wide range of knowledge
Academy women possess.
